Spring BBQ @ K.O.C Spring Camp
11:00 AMSalam to everyone. Hope all is well and in the pinkest of health.
We're entering Spring as of now. This is my second winter and spring experience for me but I had to say that Winter & Spring this year was way meaner and colder than last year, speaking of temperature wise. Putting into comparison, I don't recall last year winter reached negative degree but this year we reached -1 and even -2 degree C at some point. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....
Since the weather is nice, albeit tad too cold in the morning and at night time, we wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to spend our day outdoor. Something which is impossible to do when summer come soon. Therefore, we organised small BBQ event among us, again. This time with a different group of people, who happened to be free that time. The venue also vary as this time, we had the opportunity to use K.O.C Spring Camp at Az-Zour. K.O.C means Kuwait Oil Camp and this facilities was open only to KOC staff. Thanks to Shukri, we had the opportunity to enjoy the benefits provided in the camp too. Anyway, as I said earlier, this camp was open during Spring and only open for KOC staffs and family. However, each staff can bring outsiders, 2 family at each visit. From what I heard, the spring camp is open to public during Kuwait Liberation Day on February.
:: Thanks a lot to Shukri, Anis and their twins for having us ::
For a non-profitable camp that didn't charge entrance fee even for outsider ( that came with staffs ), I must say the facilities offered was impressive and done with full passion to cater their staffs's needs. They had prepared and set many fully-carpeted tents up for visitors to use, also free of charge. There's helper to help organize the tables and chairs according to our needs. Big dustbin was prepared at each and every tent and the helpers came every hour to emptied the bin. Very efficient service! There's a well maintained playground nearby, park and open booth should you wish to hang around outside, mosque, clubhouse and most importantly, clean and functioned toilet with a cleaner standby there 24x7.. okay maybe not 24x7 hahaha.. I rephrased, a cleaner standing by there all the time during the camp operation hours.
What a BBQ without a food? Yuzly & K.Anis had volunteered to prepare riyash so we opted to bring something else. This time, we decided to bring Nasi Kerabu. Sooooo out of BBQ element kan? Yeah I know but what the heck, I don't care hahaha..
:: Ulams ::
:: Telur Masin @ Salted Egg. I came to know from Ayu that Al-Baha ( asian market in Fahaheel) did sell salted egg. If our Malaysian version was black colour, in here, as you can see, Philippines's version was shocking electric pink ::
:: Salted egg after boiled. The skin was soooooooo thin I had so much difficulties cutting it open, with my amateur skills. Hence, the very ugly telor. Ha ha lantak eh.. Janji boleh makan ::
:: Solok lada XXXL. The lada was soooo freaking big! Mind you, those who I chose was among the smallest in the basket. My oh my even my biggest pan can't fully fit them all. You can't see it in the picture I guess but trust me, it's so big. I reckon some of them reached almost 25 cm in length ::
:: Our tent. Those bicycles belongs to Yuzly & Kak Anis's daughters ::
:: A line of tents ::
:: Nurin and the girls ::
:: The playground where all the kids spent most of their time ::
:: It may not appear as cold in this picture but do believe when I said, it's soooooo cold and windy and freezing. Everyone wore at least 3 layers, with boots and gloves but still shaking and shivering. It's unbearable specially during our arrival. Were planning to had our picnic outdoor but as everyone can't barely eat properly because of our hands shaking like mad and our lips trembling like nobody business, we opted to move our picnic side inside the tents ::
:: Ahhhhhh much much much better! Me, Anis and Kak Anis heheh.. When they were talking to each other, it sounded as if they're talking to their own self :) ::
:: Outdoor gazebo. Apparently as you can see, because of the weather is not permitted, it's left unoccupied the whole day we were there ::
:: If you remember my post about fishing last winter, you should remember this place. Well, this is what's left of our used to be fishing site. The sand path now gone making the brick area, where we used to set our tent looked somewhat floating in the middle of the sea ::
Around after Asar, we started our Riyash session.
:: Kak Anis the mastermind ::
:: The hungry bunch of kids congregated in front of BBQ station waiting in line ::
:: 3 riyash lovers and 1 viewer. As I don't eat meat, my presence there was only to "tumpang" the heat from the griller ::
:: My munchkins ::
:: Awwwww sangat vain ::
We stayed until late at night and held a campfire inside the tent while lazying around, chit chatting and catching up. It was indeed a good weekend spent and I felt truly blessed for all the experiences. A chill night definitely felt much much lot warmer with the nice companion, good food and lots of love :)
