I've been starting exposing Alis and Erin to phonetic reading since last few weeks. I am hoping to enroll Alis to school this September so I felt that it is good to introduce her to basic reading. I must say we've been quite consistent with the phonic exercise, say about 45 minutes - 1 hour daily, mostly at night and Alis love it. I've bought few phonic activities book for her during our recent trip to Malaysia and she's done completing few simple exercises as we speak.

However, keeping the balance in life between duniawi and afterlife is my ultimate mission for me and also for my family. I wanted my kids to succeed in both part. Therefore, not only I got her her phonic activity book, I also brought back Iqra' book from volume 1-6. I was intended to buy the set for her but while I was in Spore, upon hearing my intention of getting Alis a set of Iqra', my auntie handed me an Iqra set, belong to my cousin, Ahmad, and now hands down to Alis.

Tonight, my husband was at home after his 4 nights shift in a row, hence he took the opportunity to begin Alis and Erin's Iqra' lesson. Alis as usual, a very fast learner by nature and facing not much problem finishing Alif and Ba's page.

Erin on another hand, was the handful one. She definitely doesn't have the ability to stay still for more than 5 seconds and she, like always, have problem focusing on something. There's always something more important to tend to and there's always be something distracting her.

Witnessing my husband teaching Erin and her antic definitely reminded me of a scene from Pendekar Bujang Lapok, exactly the part where they went to adult school to learn how read. It's so freaking hilarious my husband and I having hardest time keeping our face straight.

U see, tonight lesson was Alif, pronounced as Aa and Ba, pronounced as baa so my husband goes like..

" Adik, tengok ni, yang straight ni Aaa.. Yang ade titik bawah ni Baaa.."

She kept complaining she can't see properly and trying to escape by doing something else like playing playfully with her "penunjuk", whispering to Alis who happened to be next to her and twisting her kain telekung. It is just so geram yet funny at the same time.

:: Trying to focus after Papa knocked her hand lightly using pencil ::

:: She kept switching Aa with Baa so my husband asked her to look closely. Punye la dekat de belek huruf tu sampai nak tercium buku Iqra tu. My oh my.. ::

Ustaz Papa : Cuba tengok betul betul dik... Tu Aaa ker Baa.. ade titik ke takde titik ?
Erin : errmmmmmmm ( belek belek).. ermmm ( belek belek lagi)... Owhhhh yang ni takde BINTIK eh Papa ?

Kah Kah Kah Kah Kah... Seriously I was laughing so hard my jaw hurts.

:: Tu diaaa punye gigih mengaji sampai terangkat angkat pungkok ::

All in all, she managed to finish the first page successfully Alhamdullilah. Honestly, I'm not bothered much by the fact that she's having difficulty to focus, unlike Alis. She's just 3, cut her some slack. In fact, she's way ahead in term of her milestones. I kept receiving comments saying that she definitely doesn't belong to her age for she was too matured for kids of age 3.

Anyway, it is always good to starts early... plus, seeing her reaction, her antic, and her loyar buruk are definitely rewarding :).

Definitely made my day !!
